What is a true friend? Most of the time when we think of a good friend, the words loyalty and uplifting come to mind. However, a true friend is much more than that. A true friend will always put you above their own needs and will remain faithful no matter what the circumstances are that you encounter. They will encourage you during your most difficult times in life and reassure you that they are there for you. True friends accept you for who you are and do not judge you for your imperfections. Their sleeves are always available for you to dry your tears on and their arms wide open to give a warm, comforting hug.
Not only are they by your side in hard times, but they are there to make you laugh and have a fun time with. Also, a friend is someone you can tell your innermost secrets to and they do not condemn you for your mistakes or dreams in life. They are dependable in the sense that they will steer you away from harm and influence you in the right direction. Although, some friends only walk into our lives and quickly leave, but others will remain our friends for a lifetime. Most importantly, a true friend looks from within the heart of a person and is not focused on the outside. According to the Bible, a true friend is someone who will lay their own life down for another. Thus, a true friend expresses their love and commitment in these ways and will always contain a special, unforgettable place in their heart for you.
